Weekend is coming and once again we thought we’d come up with a track selection for you to get the party started. From Indie Dance to Electronica and Electro to Drum & Bass here’s what’s on our playlist heading into the weekend and we certainly hope you enjoy the tracks too. Please note that some of the tracks are only available as previews on Soundcloud and one of them is actually only available on Spotify for the time being, so we recommend checking out the full playlist on Spotify rather on Soundcloud. Pick your poison and have a great weekend y’all!

Turbo KillerCarpenter Brut is an artist whose name you should know by now and if not you have some serious homework and listening to do. It’s no secret we have loved his work here on Metalectro before his rise to Synthwave stardom as his music was always hard hard, cool, inspired and of a very high standard. And now he has equally great visuals (if not even greater) to go along with it too. The video for “Turbo Killer” (written and directed by Seth Ickerman) was out a few months ago and well, simply put is probably the most awesome and visually stunning video (music or not) we, you and everyone else have seen and will see in a while. In case you have somehow missed it until now we don’t want to spoil the fun and jawdropping action that comes with it so we’ll stop here. Fasten your seatbelts and enjoy! Continue reading »

Spicing things up a bit today by throwing some audio-visual action into the mix and taking you a few months back. Russia’s Proxy is a name those of you into the dark and hard side of Electro and Techno should be well familiar with by now and frankly he shoudn’t need any introductions by now. And when he teams up with Sen Dog (of legendary rappers Cypress Hill) you know the result has to be some seriously badass and crazy tunage, which is the case with “Mad Dog 10,000”, out a few months ago on Sotto Voce. And if you’re thinking “this sounds familiar” it’s because you’ve probably already heard the instrumental version of the track which has been going around for a while already, titled “10,000”, one of Proxy’s most classic and one a personal favorite of mine. Now take that and add the top class rapping by Sen Dog (no surprise here) and a dark video that captures and translates perfectly the insane and intense atmosphere of the track and there you have it, it’s a “mad dog on the loose” indeed. So please do yourselves a favor and check this rabid piece out.

Trying to catch up with all the music I missed during the last months that the blog was in hibernation is a time consuming task, let me tell you. Not to complain though since I am a music junkie anyway so sitting and listening to (new) music isn’t all that bad, especially when it’s good music (or the kind of music i like to be more precise).

And while I’m going to be taking it slower and only post about releases which have that something special worth talking about, the music that does actually make it on here should be “food for the soul” – only more groovy, powerful and generally speaking awesome in one way or the other. And Daniel Deluxe‘s “Corruptor” LP just happens to tick all of those boxes. Continue reading »

Weekend is coming so here’s a playlist to get the party started. And being Friday the 13th too I thought i’d keep it bloody and heavy. We hope you enjoy the selection (incl. tracks by Lektrique, Kroyclub, XKore, Laforcah, Le Castle Vania, Owl Vision, Father, 501, The Glitch Mob, I Think I Broke Something , Christine and Neosignal). You can also check the playlist on Soundcloud (here) although some of the tracks are only available as previews so Spotify is recommended for the full versions.

As for those of you following the blog from the early days you might remember the regular monthly mixtape series we used to have, which will be probably be replaced by regular playlists. As for the reason why the mixtapes won’t be coming back but will be replaced by these playlists, first we feel it’s more directly beneficial for the artists themselves, second obviously it’s less time consuming to only have to make the right track selection instead of having to do a mixtape with it and finally with the stricter copyright infrigement policies that are in place on Soundcloud nowadays it seems more appropriate.
