Including 3 originals as well as remixes by Irving Force, Hijack Da Bass and Alminia “Return” was out on JST Records on June 20th. Moving somewhere between Electro House, Complextro and Synthwave/Outrun, the 3 originals strike the right balance between heavy basslines and melodic parts (more on the melancholic and dark side rather than on the EDM though) while each of the 3 remixes adds something new to the release. Irving Force‘s rocker definitely focuses more on the 80’s side of things and pushes the original to its limits (just like an 80’s “action packed” movie would), Hijack Da Bass delivers an Electro House hard hitter you’d expect from him while finally the newcomer Alminia adds some flavor and closes the release in afunkier and lighter tone.

Review: Muzzy “F Minor Factory” EP http://www.metalectro-music.com/2016/06/23/review-muzzy-f-minor-factory-ep/ http://www.metalectro-music.com/2016/06/23/review-muzzy-f-minor-factory-ep/#comments Thu, 23 Jun 2016 16:29:07 +0000 http://www.metalectro-music.com/?p=30881 [...]]]> Muzzy‘s “F Minor Factory” almost slipped unnoticed through our radars somehow but our bass detection systems finally detected it and we’re quite happy they did. Released on Monstercat about a month ago, the UK artist’s new EP comes with 4 original tracks moving somewhere between Electronica, Dubstep and Drum & Bass. A well thought of, nicely flowing release combining Drum & Bass rhythms with more melodic parts, EDM-ish hooks and even powerfull guitar fueled ragers, “F Minor Factory” can get you off your ass and right into the pit/dancefloor while at the same time it can suck you in with its more atmospheric parts. Definitely a fun to listen to and well produced EP with the highlight being “Play”, which minus some vocal parts would make an ultimate banger (but it still rocks anyway).

Christine – Howling Wave (Official Video) http://www.metalectro-music.com/2016/06/22/christine-howling-wave-official-video/ http://www.metalectro-music.com/2016/06/22/christine-howling-wave-official-video/#comments Wed, 22 Jun 2016 15:34:18 +0000 http://www.metalectro-music.com/?p=30876 [...]]]> Long time favorite French duo Christine is back with a brand new single and video to go along and we couldn’t me more excited about it. “Howling Wave” is out through Mouton Noir Records since the 17th of June and let us say is some of the duo’s best work as of late. A mix of dark Synthwave, French House and hard Electro, Christine‘s new single from their upcoming album is equally groovy and horrifying, following the long tradition the duo has with drawing inspiration from mind twisting themes, in both their music and videos that is. And “Howling Wave” is of course no exception. The Carpenter-esque aesthetics seen throughout the video (directed by Alexis Benoit and produced by Phantasm) are of course a perfect fit for Christine‘s music and as long as you don’t mind a little bit of paranoia caused by constantly chaning and unfulfilled desires then this is definitely one you’re going to enjoy.

Review: VA “3 Years Of Blackout” http://www.metalectro-music.com/2016/06/17/review-va-3-years-of-blackout/ http://www.metalectro-music.com/2016/06/17/review-va-3-years-of-blackout/#comments Fri, 17 Jun 2016 15:52:48 +0000 http://www.metalectro-music.com/?p=30870 [...]]]> Next up we have something huge coming and well, how could it not be huge when it’s a compilation album celebrating three years of Blackout Music? Yeah, you read that right, a remix album consisting of Blackout artists remixing other Blackout artists and we could stop writting right at this point since you know this is going to be a face melt. And if you are not convinced just take a look at the track list, where some of the hottest Drum And Bass artists come together to remix each other (Black Sun Empire, Pythius, Telekinesis, Neonlight, State Of Mind and the list goes on). Out on June 17 this is undoubtedly one of the biggest and most highly anticipated releases of the year since all tracks are… well, to put it simply “fire”. Non-stop energy and bass which we guarantee will squeeze your brain and hit you in the face so hard that you won’t be able to stop moving. Should we even say “check it out”? We shouldn’t have to so just press play.

Review: aUtOdiDakT, Kroyclub, YOL, Trumpdisco “Team Bass ” EP http://www.metalectro-music.com/2016/06/15/review-autodidakt-kroyclub-yol-trumpdisco-team-bass-ep/ http://www.metalectro-music.com/2016/06/15/review-autodidakt-kroyclub-yol-trumpdisco-team-bass-ep/#comments Wed, 15 Jun 2016 16:11:46 +0000 http://www.metalectro-music.com/?p=30863 [...]]]> Following some consecutive “fresh blood” posts and music by artists we only came accross recently for the first time, it’s finally time to get back to some old nasties and bass maestros. Besides, you know that when Mähtrasher Records regulars aUtOdiDakT, Kroyclub, YOL (Your Ol’ Lady) and Trumpdisco come together to form “Team Bass” good things are about to happen. Five collaboration originals by the four artists who once again delivered a monster bass Electro release, like one would expect by them but then again what were the odds they wouldn’t? For those long time fans of “Team Bass” you might get surprised by the inclusion of a Trap track as well on the release, although to give credits where due, it’s not the usual generic Trap and it still maintains the character and sound which defines the label and artists. Good stuff no doubt, especially when good heavy Electro is getting so hard to come by nowadays. And while Europe is cheering for their favorite football national teams these days we’ll stick to our own passion and cheer for our favorite team. Bring it home “Team Bass”!

Review: Brook Line “Paradoxe” EP http://www.metalectro-music.com/2016/06/14/review-brook-line-paradoxe-ep/ http://www.metalectro-music.com/2016/06/14/review-brook-line-paradoxe-ep/#comments Tue, 14 Jun 2016 15:06:07 +0000 http://www.metalectro-music.com/?p=30857 [...]]]> When you start the day by having to actually review your posts and decide to actually move them to the trash instead of publishing them (and not because you aren’t happy with the write up but with the music itself) you have to admit it’s becoming increasingly harder to find music you consider is worthy of writting about. Thankfully, there’s always some new (or newly discovered) producer out there who ends up saving the day and today it was Brook Line‘s turn to do so. An artist never heard or talked about before on here, Brook Line hails from France and produces a mix of Techno and Electro/Electronica which seems to be winning more and more points in our book lately. Out on Mouton Noir Records (back in February), this is Brook Line‘s first EP and definitely sets the standard high for what’s to come next from Parisian producer. Check it out!

Review: Architekt “Deadly Styles” EP http://www.metalectro-music.com/2016/06/09/review-architekt-deadly-styles-ep/ http://www.metalectro-music.com/2016/06/09/review-architekt-deadly-styles-ep/#comments Thu, 09 Jun 2016 15:03:01 +0000 http://www.metalectro-music.com/?p=30841 [...]]]> Bringing out the heavy stuff today with a new Dubstep release from Architekt and Impossible Records so prepare to get loud boys and girls! Hailing from Philadelphia (USA), Architekt is a name that we came accross only days ago with his “Deadly Styles” EP. Previously featured on other Impossible Records releases as a remixer it was about time for Architekt to take main stage with his new EP and that’s exactly what he did. 5 original Dubstep tracks, although only the 2 of them have been made available on Soundcloud for the time being, with the self-titled EP track “Deadly Styles” (a collaboration with label boss KJ Sawka and also featuring Messinian on vocals) being the highlight of the release. Extra points to Architekt for his love of heavy guitars too (what can I say, we like our guitars). Definitely Architekt‘s finest work up to date and an EP to check out if you’re after some heavy bass and some Dubstep that doesn’t feel “forced”.

Review: F.O.O.L – Showdown http://www.metalectro-music.com/2016/06/07/review-f-o-o-l-showdown/ http://www.metalectro-music.com/2016/06/07/review-f-o-o-l-showdown/#comments Tue, 07 Jun 2016 15:41:37 +0000 http://www.metalectro-music.com/?p=30830 [...]]]> The summer is officially here and what better way to get it under way than with some brand new F.O.O.L music? It had been a while since we heard anything new from the Swedish producer, leading us to think that F.O.O.L might be coming to an end but boy aren’t we happy to be wrong? “Showdown” was out just yesterday on Monstercat and despite it’s more summery feel and funkier vibe it definitely is the kind of track one would expect by F.O.O.L. Classic F.O.O.L melodies and sound, simply dressed up more for the occassion (being no other than the start of the summer). Maybe more reminiscent of French Electro acts like Daft Punk and Justice at points (but then again who isn’t?) F.O.O.L has shifted from the darker and overall melancholic feel to more “airy” and uplifting ones in “Showdown” and it actually works great in terms of giving a fresh tone to the track. Still though it remains an instantly recognisable F.O.O.L track and all those who love the Swedish artist’s previous music should enjoy this one too.

Review: Andreas Rund “Gemini” EP http://www.metalectro-music.com/2016/05/27/review-andreas-rund-gemini-ep/ http://www.metalectro-music.com/2016/05/27/review-andreas-rund-gemini-ep/#comments Fri, 27 May 2016 13:14:15 +0000 http://www.metalectro-music.com/?p=30814 [...]]]> Andreas Rund is a name we only came accross very recently (as in about a couple of weeks ago) and istantly fell in love with his deep and dark music. Taking a closer and more careful look of course we realised the Czech Republic producer wasn’t as “new” as we initially thought. Formerly know as Atrey, the artist has gone through a complete transformation (this isn’t just a cheap and quick paintjob) and it’s definitely a very interesing one too. Released via Owl Vision‘s imprint Comorbid Records, “Gemini” is Andreas Rund‘s first EP under his new alias. Three original tracks moving somewhere between dark Electronica, House and even darker Techno with a clean, deep yet heavy sound this is definitely a debut that sets the bar pretty high for Andreas Rund and can be enjoyed both in a club with some early morning “burnout” sessions or at home. We will definitely be keeping an eye and ear out for Andreas Rund in the future but for now we’re just going to leave you check out his debut EP “Gemini”.

Review: Perturbator “Uncanny Valley” LP http://www.metalectro-music.com/2016/05/24/review-perturbator-uncanny-valley-lp/ http://www.metalectro-music.com/2016/05/24/review-perturbator-uncanny-valley-lp/#comments Tue, 24 May 2016 15:44:11 +0000 http://www.metalectro-music.com/?p=30806 [...]]]> When it comes to artists who constantly keep impressing with their work, whether it’s the music, videos or overall “packaging” of their music and presence, Perturbator has been at the very top (together with a few others) for a while now. The Frenchman isn’t only a frontrunner of the Dark Synthwave “neon apocalypse” we’ve been going through lately but one of those artists who have lead the assault for a while now. His fourth album “Uncanny Valey” was out on Blood Music a few weeks ago (and not in 2112 A.D as the rumours had it) and besides the impressive packaging (vinyls, CDs, bonus material and lots of cool artwork) which is guaranteed to earn some extra points it’s the actual music itself that makes it such a complete album.

13 original tracks which perfectly showcase Perturbator‘s maturity as a composer and his ability to tell a story through his albums, an art that is somewhat lost in the majority of today’s electronic music. From dark to melancholic, from mellow to filthy and from evil to aggressive, “Uncanny Valley” has all your audio needs covered whether you’re looking to turn off the lights and let it take you on a ride or looking to rage to some good ol’electronic bangers.

Maybe not the most well-polished album you’ve ever heard in terms of production but that’s not necessarily bad, especially since it works great with the overall concept and context of “Uncanny Valley”. A very fun album to listen to no doubt, this is definitely Perturbator‘s finest and most complete work up to date so do yourselves a favor and check it out.
