Weekend is coming and once again we thought we’d come up with a track selection for you to get the party started. From Indie Dance to Electronica and Electro to Drum & Bass here’s what’s on our playlist heading into the weekend and we certainly hope you enjoy the tracks too. Please note that some of the tracks are only available as previews on Soundcloud and one of them is actually only available on Spotify for the time being, so we recommend checking out the full playlist on Spotify rather on Soundcloud. Pick your poison and have a great weekend y’all!

Just a few days ago the So French Records “Winter Time” Vol.02 Compilation was released by French label, including 14 original tracks altogether. A mix of Nu Disco, Electro Rock and well, French Touch with some artists we’ve known and liked for a while now, as well as some new ones. Listening to the whole release a few times and trying to make up our minds about it, we can definitely say that there are some very good tracks on it, which we have picked to feature here today. One of the things we didn’t like as much is the abundance of Nu Disco and “funky”tracks, which seemed to take over the overall release more than we would have personally liked as it seems to have left less room for more power and energy which we thought is missing a bit from the particular compilation. The good thing though is that the few tracks that are moving to a “harder” direction out of “Winter Time” Vol.02 really stood out as they made a significance difference to the release’s overall feel and flow. Staying in the dark side of the Electronic music (what a surprise!) and going on with a video by our beloved on Metalectro Frenchmen Christine for the track “Gonna Fear Now” which is available as a free download. And as if a new track by Christine isn’t exciting news already, “Gonna Fear Now” came with a new video too and all those fans of the duo’s aesthetics and style are going to love this one. Horror movie themes with a retro feel, serial killers and gallons of bloody fun, all the ingredients that make a great Christine video are there and the same goes for the track too.  Hard Electro with amn 80’s dark synthwave touch and the characteristic Christine sound, “Gonna Fear Now” is razor sharp and dangerously fun to look at and listen too. So here comes the official video for it and if you enjoy this but somehow you aren’t familiar with these Frenchmen you better get your act together and go check out the rest of their music and videos too!

It’s been a while since a video teaser for Dizkodeath‘s “Orchid” appeared on the web teasing us with some nice raw and dark imagery for the artist’s single “Orchid”. Now finally the full official video for the track has been released, following the German artist’s debut LP. Lo-fi and distorted, the video of “Orchid” follows the exact same recipy you would expect if you’ve checked out Dizkodeath‘s music. Heavy and groovy hard Electro with a ‘deadly’ twist, the video of “Orchid” moves at a slow pace, yet it will hypnotise and suck you in with it’ atmopsheric imagery. Don’t expect fancy tricks and polished post-production but a theme that would probably suit a new wave or gothic video quite well too, with a rough edge to it which works perfectly well and sets the mood to listen to the whole “Raw” LP. So here it is, check it out and if you missed Dizkodeath‘s debut LP better check that out too here!

When talking about great new releases it would be a sin not to spend some time talking about Dizkodeath‘s debut album “Raw”. Out on Jet Set Trash, “Raw” is definitely a long awaited and anticipated LP and it was worth the wait by all means! The German artist had been already leaving very good impressions and therefore had our support on this blog since the very early days and his “Fear” Free EP (which was a Metalectro Exclusive Free EP) but he has certainly grown a lot since then in every way an artist should. Since then he has evolved his style into a hard Electro – Indie Dance kind of mix, influenced heavily by Justice and the hard French Electro scene with a Punk Rock edge and attitude and a Disco groove (see “Over” feat. Dana Jean Phoenix). His 4 lead singles “Revolver”, “Wizard”, “Vendetta” and “Orchid” released over the last 12 months with some big remixes definitely attracted quite a bit of attention on the up & coming and super talented artist and he in his turn didn’t fail to deliver and keep impressing with his LP. “Raw” includes 8 new and previously unheard original tracks and really there is not one boring second throughout the whole album. Definitely an LP that packs a lot of inspiration, as well as raw power and style, especially in an era that the Electronic music world is plagued by a soulless cookie cutter ‘sample library’ mentality that leaves a little to no room for creativity. Dizkodeath just doesn’t care to follow any of that mentality and that’s another plus for the artist to be added on top of the already huge “Raw” LP. Simply put, all fans of hard electronic music should listen to this album!
