Review: VA “We Are Friends” Vol.03

Hell-o all and it’s not very often that you will see us posting about mau5trap releases on this blog so in case you’re wondering whether we’re might be going “soft” we ensure you that isn’t the case but on the contrary it’s the specific release that features a couple of tracks by two artists you most likely know and love as much as we do that really caught our attention. The majority of the tracks on “We Are Friends” Vol.03 might not be down our alley to be honest but but we couldn’t ignore these two bright (or actually dark if we want to be more precise) exceptions by any means. One of them comes by an artist who has been a member of the mau5trap roster for a few months and is no other than Proxy, who has contributed with a heavy trasher titled “Oldboy” on the release and let us tell you, this is Proxy at his best (or very close at least). The second track we have picked from “We Are Friends” Vol.03 comes by Frenchman Neus, who too joins mau5trap and his new track is really something of a special treat. “Amanita” is the title of Neus‘s new track who’s going for some atmospheric and relaxed guitar driven Electronica. It’s not often that you will see Deadmau5 mentioned on Metalectro since we pride ourselves in not bothering with any gossip, twitter arguments or non directly music related posts and although there is no much room for argument about Deadmau5′ offerings to the electronic music world really, there’s also not much music coming by him which we could feature here. But in any case, the mau5 is back on Metalectro after a long time thanks to the Canadian duo who goes by the name Botnek and their remix of “Maths”. A loud and dirty(er) Electro remix that definitely gives a much needed energy boost to the original, according to our taste and earbuds that is. The remix will be released on the “5yrs of deadmau5” anniversay remix album, to be released on Mau5trap Records on November 24th, alongside remixes by Dillon Francis, Shiba San, Nero, Eric Prydz, Madeon and more. So far Botnek‘s remix holds pole position for our favorite remix out of the ones we have already heard from the upcoming ablum, although we assume there will be some more great ones for sure to come by some of the artists involved in this project. That remains to be seen (or actually be heard) so for now here’s Botnek‘s remix – hit play and check it out!

Time to wrap things and let another Metalectro come to an end and for my last post for today i saved a pretty nice remix that brings back on Metalectro a name that has been featured here many times in the past, not as much recently though. FetOo is back and he brings with him Deadmau5 too (even if the Canadian doesn’t about it). Either way and in any case though, the Frechman came up with this nice free remix of “Strobe” and one of his best tracks in the last few months too imo. A remix that suited FetOo‘s style and sound very well judging by the result and gave a fresh breeze in FetOo‘s style which i always liked and still do but recently was starting to feel a bit too expected and lacking this fresheness that this remix certainly has. My pick for the “remix of the day” as well and a freebie, so check it, grab it and have a great evening!
