It’s been a rich week in terms of new releases already right from the start and of course that means it’s time to crank up the volume on our speakers to the max, pick up our keyboards and let the dirty electronic music flow. And of course, with the Knife Party album finally being released after endless “leaks” we have to obviously expect this to be one of the most talked about releases, so we thought we’d have our say too. “Abandon Ship” LP was definitely a long awaited and highly anticipated release by most blogs, producers and fans alike but does it live up to the expectations? Allow us not to be entirely convinced for the time being and neither surprised really, since it was quite expected and the signs were all there for quite a while. Covering almost everything from pop to house and techno to finally some nice hard Electro which brings to mind the good old Knife Party, there is no doubt that “Abandon Ship” is definitely a release of very high production standards and also making sure that from a commercial perspective the whole “EDM” spectrum is covered. Whether that’s good or bad is up to everyone’s judgement of course so we’re not here to point any fingers. Still though, we can’t say we have enjoyed “Abandon Ship”, besides the 3 tracks we have picked out of the 12 in total to feature here. Call us closed minded if you like but when it comes to Electronic music we like it hard and loud, something that unfortunatelly came in very small doses in Knife Party’s new album. Hell-o all and today we’ll be continuing the rich in bass new release frenzy with some more heavy Electro sounds, so let’s jump straight into the good stuff with the Lazer Lazer Lazer & Helix High collaboration EP titled “The Masterplan”. Released on Firepower Records on November 04th, “The Masterplan” EP includes 3 collaboration originals from Lazer Lazer Lazer & Helix High plus one track from each artist. For all those who have been following the “lazers” since their early unofficial remixes for Knife Party’s “Sleaze” or any of the other free remixes they came up with, it might have taken a while for Lazer Lazer Lazer‘s official debut release but the wait was definitely worth it. As expected the high production quality and Kinfe Party-esque sound is back and we have to admit we are actually pretty happy with the “lazer” taking this expected but really great sounding route. The similarities might be a tad too many and the tracks might bring to mind the harder Knife Party Electro days but when it sounds as good as it does in “The Masterplan” EP noone can complain really. Besides, we no doubt prefer this than the more Top 10 friendly approach followed by many other artists. So if you’re looking for top production that is as close as it gets to the good old harder Knife Party and a super boosted full of energy new release “The Masterplan” EP is exactly what you’re looking for.

More fresh blood coming with the mystery surrounded and impressive “career” launch that has been the beginning for Lazer Lazer Lazer. No info, pics or details about Lazer Lazer Lazer are known, the attention from bigger blogs and of course production standards of the few remixes they have published though, makes one wonder if Lazer Lazer Lazer is just a new side project by a well known artist. Something that might as well be nothing more than a publicity trick trying to create the impression of a well known artist behind Lazer Lazer Lazer, a promotional trick we see more and more lately since big blogs love playing the guessing game. The truth is we can’t be sure and we don’t really care. What matters is that regardless any publicity tricks Lazer Lazer Lazer might chose, the quality needed to support them is there, as this remix of Knife Party’s “Sleaze” proves. It’s not easy to remix Knife Party and keep the standard at the same level, Lazer Lazer Lazer succeeded in doing that though imo. And having said that i think nothing else need to be added here so check this remix out and look out for more by the LA based Lazer Lazer Lazer. We certainly will be keeping our Metalectric eye on them.

Going on with another new release and undoubtedly the most talked and blogged about EP of the last few days and not only. Knife Party‘s new EP “Haunted House” is out since May 6th and as expected it has taken over the EDM world, something we all knew would happen anyway and despite the EP have being leaked and being pretty much available everywhere. That didn’t stop Knife Party fom snatching the top spot on the charts within a day though and i assume that by now you’re all more than familiar with the tracks on the EP, especially since a few of them like “Power Glove” have been going around for months already. Still it’s a big new EP that couldn’t be missing from here, regardless if you’ve heard it a million times or not. In case you haven’t though, just hit play and enjoy!
