This week we caught up Geometry, a name that has been featured on Metalectro a few times with their tracks. Geometry is the musical project of Paul and Adrien (18 and 19), two friends from Bordeaux, France. During their 1st year they had already produced remixes for The Mastertrons, The Noisy Freaks, Lark and many others, all highly supported by big names. Recently they saw their “Triggernometry” EP being released by Dreieck Records as well, so we thought now would be a pretty good time to get hold of them for an interview and find out what Geometry is all about!

01. Hi guys! Would you mind introducing yourselves?

Yop we’re Paul & Adrien, two guys from Bordeaux, France. We’re 18 and 19 years old.

02. How long have you been producing as Geometry and how did it all start for you?

We started during summer 2009. We decided to start producing electro tracks because we saw a lot of artists composing banger tracks with a minimal gear. But we can say that Geometry really started with our first release, the remix of Snapcrack, at the end of 2010.

03.How would you describe your music and who have been the main influences would you say that helped you shape your style and sound?

We think that our music is a mix of electro and nu disco, we don’t have a special style and we just try to produce tracks you can dance to. It’s possible that our main influences come from the music that we listened to when we were younger (metal music), and also from actual artists who we like.

05.You have already produced a few originals as well as remixes, do you prefer working on one more than the other for some reason and if yes why?

Producing originals is something very cool, because we start from nothing; we can do the entire thing as we want it. But making remixes is also great because you can turn a song in something very different, to your own style and it’s pretty easier because the outline is already done.

06. What is your biggest music achievement/highlight so far and what would you say is your most embarrassing moment?

Our most embarrassing moment is surely when we cut accidentally the main volume of the laptop during a gig. And the biggest Geometry achievement was when we saw our first track out on Beatport.

07. Recently you have been coming up with some great tracks, originals and remixes, with your “Stop the Attack” remix and “Lou” being a couple of my favorites. Would you say these last months were just a warm up period for a big 2012?

Haha! Just wait and see! Big stuff is coming!!!

We have some incoming remixes for Dumme Jungs (OMGITM), Just Banana (Touché) and also 4 originals. Furthermore, “Lou” is going to be featured on an iPad game with a release being planned for this summer.

08. Your “Triggernometry” EP was released recently on Dreieck Records. A great EP I have to say but the original “Triggernometry” was produced almost a year ago. A track I always liked a lot, what happened and it took almost a year for the EP to get released?

It’s a good question. Dreieck Records recently asked to us if we would like to release an EP on their label, and we thought that “Triggernometry” was our best track (at the moment). Even if the EP is good, the original mix of  “Triggernometry” can’t really represent the “actual Geometry”. By the way, we would like to thank again the remixers, their work is great!

09. Do you have any live shows coming up and how can someone book you to play a show?

We are at the moment running a contest (BPM Contest 2012) and we’re going to play @OPIUM Club, Toulouse the 19th of May. We’ve got also some plans for the summer, but nothing very sure.

10. Who would you dream of sharing the stage with?

The most exciting one would be with Dada Life.

11. Out of all producers/artists you can think of, who would you dream of collaborating with and spend a few days or hours in the studio with?

2 chicks…

12. Do you prefer working only with computers/sequencers or do you get your hands dirty playing and recording instruments? Do you use samples and what’s your opinion on sampling and copyright?

We usually work with software only. About using samples, everyone is doing that… And we don’t think that this is something which is not creative.

14. Any comments about today’s mainstream music? Do you agree with Haezer’s “Commercial Music Is Dead”?

About the today’s mainstream music, we have to say that it’s bad to see everyone trying to make the same dubstep tracks, with the same bass and leads…

Commercial music is fortunately not dead, because the large majority of people is enjoying it.

15. Do you believe that an electronic music artist can earn his/her living from music nowadays?

Except some big artists who’re always making gigs and who have notoriety, living from music nowadays seems impossible.

16. What are you listening to lately? Any tracks/artists you recommend?

Kavinsky – Roadgame is a real masterpiece, we’re absolutely huge fans of it. The new SebastiAn (Holloback) is also very good. Between his new EP, the new Knife Party EP, there are so many things incoming that will be so damn big!

17. What’s the best and worst thing about working with each other?

Eating fatty food…

19. What do you think about the Metalectro blog and the music featured on it?

It’s a very good blog 😉 We enjoy your openness to all style of electro.

20. Anything else you’d like to mention and we forgot to ask?
