Time for another interview and this time we managed to get hold of a duo that has been featured on the blog more than a few times with their tracks. With a couple of tracks released on Dim Mak, a brand new EP out on Bonerizing Records and a few more releases and freebies under their belt, Vegamoore recently made the big jump from Italy to LA and it seems like this might be the perfect time to talk to them about their favorite music past, present and future and find out what they’re planning for the rest of the year! So, read on…

01. Hi guys! Would you mind introducing Vegamoore?

Well Vegamoore is a part of our life, it is a story of friendship and the music make together. We are just 2 donks, who have been friends for a long time and have decided to start changing the music industry, the club culture of soft drinks, soft play lists, and a soft party at least. We like it hard. We like people to forget that they are in a disco and make them feel they are in a rock arena! It’s all about the energy!

02. You just recently made the big jump across the big pond and moved from Italy to LA. What are your first impressions about living in LA and do you have any advice to give to anyone thinking about making the big jump too?

We hate when people say  “I don’t like it here, fuck, if I was there… la la la,” you don’t like it here? Then move on! Start doing what you believe in and do it for yourself.  We started with no deal, no home, no projects instead, just our music.  Here in Los Angeles you can find everything and everything is connected like a chain. While being here we have already met a lot of good people, from all over the world and if they can help you they do.  There is no competition between people who do same stuff, but we feel like a family and try to help each other as you can. If your music is good you do not need no other fucking shit.

03. Where do you draw inspiration from usually when writing a new original?

The question should be not from where but when. Depends by the moment, sometimes we feel like the music we are doing. We do not really care about what other artists are making or market rules, we are musicians first so we like to try everyday making something new.

04. Do you prefer writing originals or remixing and why?

No preferences… it’s all music. When you remix you have to search and figure out how to mix both styles, when you produce an original you can do what you prefer. Both ways of producing are interesting.

05. Are you involved in any other projects or do you produce only as Vegamoore?

Actually we only produce together as Vegamoore.

06. What are your influences/music backgrounds? Have you ever played in a rock/metal/punk band?

Well Thomas studied classic piano for some years and Vincent used to play the drums in rock and funk bands. We combined our styles and at the end it turned into Vegamoore… We were born listening to the music, growing up listening from Pink Floyd’s psychedelic rock to Slayer and from Punk to Joy Division, Circle Jerks, The Locust Melt Banana.

07. What would you say is your biggest music achievement so far and what your worst/most embarrassing moment?

Well the biggest music achievement is the one what we have not achieved yet. We have had tons of great moments, it’s hard to figure only one out… really, a lot of good vibrations. The worst? We think is better to say being disappointed or an angry moment. Life’s a lesson every day.

08. Do you prefer working only with computers/sequencers or do you get your hands dirty playing and recording instruments? Do you use samples and what’s your opinion on sampling and copyright?

We use both computers and live instruments, as you know we started performing only live with 2 electribes, sampler and a microkorg for 2 years.  Then we started producing on a computer, buying and selling continuously new instruments.  As for sampling, use that shit but try to personalize it as much as you can.

09. We saw/heard you collaborating with Tits & Clits on the track “September” and Ze in your latest EP “Glamsterdam” and before that with Justin Pearson on “They Keep On Fucking”. Are you happy with the results of these collaborations and should we expect any more collaborations in the future?

Vegamoore (Feat. Tits & Clits) – September

Vegamoore (Feat. ZE!) – Take You Down

Vegamoore (Feat. Justin Pearson) – They Keep On Fucking

You forgot Snapcrack! They’re all amazing people, we’re really happy for all our collaborations. We try to match stylistically with other artists of different musical genres which leads in getting to know and discovering new things and music secrets day by day.

Future collabs? Yeah! A HUGE track + video with the awesome Otto Von Schirach and a really rocky track with vocals from A Girl And A Gun at the moment.

10. Whom would you dream of collaborating and spending a few hours/days in the studio with?

Thinking of Mike Patton, Slash, The Prodigy andThe  Chemical Brothers.

11. How long have you known each other and what’s the best and worst thing about working together?

Like 13 years..? We like beat each other in to find the sound we like and have a lot of competition with each other in the studio but once outside the studio all is well.

12. Do you spend time together when not in the studio producing music as well? What’s a day in the life of Vegamoore like?

Sure, we are friends first of all, then producers. We like to go to party sometimes or have beers with friends, just chilling and relaxing.

13. What is music for you and what do you think about the way the music industry is changing? Do you agree with Haezer’s “Commercial Music Is Dead”?

Commercial music is not dead, c’mon turn on the radio. But we love his commercial against commercial.

14. Do you believe that an electronic music artist can earn his/her living from music nowadays?

Yes he/she can with good ideas. But before you sign anything get a lawyer.

15. You’ve been playing quite a few live shows, what would you say is your favorite place/city to play and do you have any interesting onstage/backstage stories to share with us?

First rules of the backstage: everything that happens backstage, stays backstage! Ahahah! There are a lot of stories… The city we prefer to play is the one we have not still been there, so the next city we visit!  This is because we do not care about the past, just look to the future. All shows are good but the best has yet to come.

16. Talking about live shows, whom would you dream of sharing the stage with and which would be the ideal live show line up for you

With a lot lot lot of artists!!! and… we’re not event promoters…

17. What should the Vegamoore fans expect from you in the remaining of 2013? Give the readers something to look forward to in terms of new releases, remixes, live dates, etc…

So we’ll have 2 upcoming remixes for Frederic De Carvalho on Police Records and then the next EP is on Big Alliance Records with some great remixers! Stay updated and check what is coming on our website: www.vegamoore.com

18. What would be the first thing to save if your studio was on fire?

Our fucking fat asses!

19. What do you think about the Metalectro blog and the music featured on it?

We started checking it and keep updated for quite a while… It’s a very good blog, very useful for all producers and DJ’s! We love Metalectro and of course Jet Set Trash.

20. Something else you’d like to mention and we forgot to ask?

WE LIKE TO PARTY HARD! Don’t you?

– Metalectro:  Like there’s no tomorrow!!!

Vegamoore Choices!!!

As for any of you wondering what music Vegamoore like to listen to when not writting and producing their own, here are their 5 Favorite Tracks that gave to post for you to check out and the reasons why they picked these 5 specific tracks!

01. Radiohead – Idioteque

We chose this track because it’s a perfect example of electronic music mixed with rock. Somewhat experimental, we are used to be jamming with both genres and this one is the perfect example.

02. Cyberpunkers – Fuck The System (Designer Drugs Remix)

One of our favorite electro tracks. Powerfull, energetic, melodic and an awesome build up. This could be the perfect electro track for all of your sets. Big up to Designer Drugs!

03. System Of A Down – Toxicity

We come from a rock world background so System Of A Down is one of our favorite bands. We dropped this track in one of our electro sets and the people just went crazy. Pogo, pogo, pogo!

04. Far Too Loud – Drop The Bomb

Well, we just think he is a fucking production genius. We met Olli in L.A. and he is awesome in person as well. And this song is totally a bomb, don’t you agree?

05. Bloodhound Gang – The Bad Touch

We chose this song because they are as silly as we are. I mean, we were still young when this track was released and so this is an evergreen for us, it brings back memories… Silly forever!
