This week I interviewed Avengers, a name that has been featured on Metalectro a few times with their tracks. Avengers are from Italy and just had their EP “Fuckin’ Commercial Music” released, a few days ago, so I thought now would be a pretty good time to get hold of them for an interview… Let’s find out what they have to say about their past, present and future and find out what Avengers are all about!
01. Hi Avengers! Would you mind introducing yourselves?
Hi guys, we are a crazy duo from Varese, in Italy. We are sick with ElectroMusic!
02. You’ve been one of the most impressive new up & coming duos in this scene imo, how long have you been Avengers and how did it all start for you?
It all started seven months ago, in a small disco in Varese. That’s when we decided we had to start playing together! It was a lousy eveninng that we were supposed to play a show but refused to because they had treated us really bad! So, it was on that very same evening that we decided to take revenge and that’s how we came up with the name “Avengers”!
03. How would you describe your music and who have been the main influences would you say that helped you shape your style and sound?
Distorted synth and bass. Our music is very influenced by heavy metal and rock ‘n’ roll sounds!
04. You have been producing some killer original tracks as well as remixes. Where or what do you draw inspiration from and what feedback have you been getting so far?
With our tracks we aim at destroying everything! We try to make tracks that make people go crazy! When we play people must jump in the air and scream! We try to come up with a personal style & sound that’ll have characteristics of a chainsaw! This is our only inspiration and goal: seeing many crazy people dance qith our tracks and cause mayhem on the dance floor!
05. You have already produced a few originals as well as remixes, do you prefer working on one more than the other for some reason and if yes why?
We love and prefer working on originals as they show our true style and personality!
06. What is your biggest music achievement/highlight so far and what would you say is your most embarrassing moment?
We think that the biggest music achievement is the release of our “Fuckin’ Commercial Music” EP! As for our most embarrassing moment, is has to be that one time we played the same track two times in a row! We like to think noone noticed but someone looked at us as if he noticed!
07. How did you come up with the name Avengers and which Avengers characters do you think you would be if you were superheroes?
Ahah, we haven’t wateched “The Avengers” movie so we can’t tell!
08. Your EP “Fuckin’ Commercial Music” was released a few days ago but not on Woo Crew Records as we were expecting. What happened there and are you happy with how things turned out with this EP?
Woo Crew Records is closed for the moment so we decided to released the EP on another label. We’re certainly very pleased, we think that reaching the 50th place on the Top 100 Electro House releases on Beatport is a great result for us!
09. Do you have any live shows coming up and how can someone book you to play a show?
Unfortunately not at the moment, in Italy is very difficult to find gigs if you aren’t working with a promoter! We hope that we’ll find a manager soon!
10. Who would you dream of sharing the stage with?
There are a lots of artist who we asolutely love! Some of them would definitely be Drivepilot, The S, F.O.O.L, The Boomzers, Cyberpunkers and Gtronic!
11. Out of all producers/artists you can think of, who would you dream of collaborating with and spend a few days or hours in the studio with?
The S!!! They are simply great producers!
12. Do you prefer working only with computers/sequencers or do you get your hands dirty playing and recording instruments? Do you use samples and what’s your opinion on sampling and copyright?
We prefer to work on a PC with midi keyboards and pads, we hate samplers because we like to produce our own sounds! We do not like to use sounds created and produced by other people!
13. So, what is music for you and what do you think about the way the music industry is changing?
Music is our life! Without music we wouldn’ t know what to do! About the music industry, we think there are few big labels and many small labels and nothing in between! And this is wrong in our opinion!
14. Any comments about today’s mainstream music? Do you agree with Haezer’s “Commercial Music Is Dead”?
We love Haezer but no, we don’ t agree with him! In Italy there is only commercial music, which totally sucks! There are really very few electronic events in comparison.
15. Do you believe that an electronic music artist can earn his/her living from music nowadays?
We believe that with hard work and patience anything is possible, so yes!
16. What are you listening to lately? Any tracks/artists you recommend?
The last EP by The Boomzers (We Are Back) is great! We really love the remix by The S, we think it’s the best track of the this guys EP and really these guys just won’t stop impressing us with every new track they come up with!
17. What’s the best and worst thing about working with each other?
When we work in the studio between us there is a great understanding! There aren’ t any negative aspects really.
18. What do you like doing when not in the studio producing music?
We like to listen to music and spending some quality time with friends.
19. What do you think about the Metalectro blog and the music featured on it?
We love the Metalectro blog and we think that the music featured on it is really good! It’s been a long time that we’ve been following this blog and we’ll certainly continue to do so.
20. Anything else you’d like to mention and we forgot to ask?
