Review: aUtOdiDakT, Kroyclub, YOL, Trumpdisco “Team Bass ” EP

Following some consecutive “fresh blood” posts and music by artists we only came accross recently for the first time, it’s finally time to get back to some old nasties and bass maestros. Besides, you know that when Mähtrasher Records regulars aUtOdiDakT, Kroyclub, YOL (Your Ol’ Lady) and Trumpdisco come together to form “Team Bass” good things are about to happen. Five collaboration originals by the four artists who once again delivered a monster bass Electro release, like one would expect by them but then again what were the odds they wouldn’t? For those long time fans of “Team Bass” you might get surprised by the inclusion of a Trap track as well on the release, although to give credits where due, it’s not the usual generic Trap and it still maintains the character and sound which defines the label and artists. Good stuff no doubt, especially when good heavy Electro is getting so hard to come by nowadays. Review: Your Ol’ Lady “Retrogade” LP

For all fans of the heavy/trashy Electro sounds as well as all those getting tired of the same (Dubstep/Drumstep) sound which so many artists go for nowadays we have some good news coming, since Your Ol’ Lady‘s debut album is now out on German label Mähtrasher Records. Those of you familiar with the Australlian artist or label should pretty much know what to expect and let us tell you that this is some fine, raw, bass-heavy Electro House. No surprise though since Your Ol’ Lady has been doing this exact thing for enough years already and “Retrogade” has to be some of his best work. 8 tracks, with a couple collaborations with label regular Kroyclub and Ivarr among them, which bring together all those sounds and styles you expect on Mähtrasher Records releases by combining the heavy bass Electro/Electronica sound with House or Techno elements spiced up with an extra pinch of “weird and crazy”, which Your Ol’ Lady has always been adding to his music anyway. European sound at its fullest and an album all fans of those styles should definitely check out. Continue reading »

New Release: Linoleum “Obnoxious” EP

Another new release that came last week by an artist that those of you Metalectro followers should be familiar with, is Linoleum‘s debut EP “Obnoxious”. The Frenchman has finally made his official debut and yes, as surprising as it might sound this is only the first EP to come by him. After having remixed a countless artists and worked with a number of labels Linoleum has finally found his home under the roof of Mähtrasher Records. 2 originals that showcase the artist’s unique style – a mix of electro, french touch and techno, all spiced with his very own character and fresh ideas. Nadisko and Gmorozov are on remixing duties, with both adding a techno flavor to the 2 originals. Not big fans of the remixes to be honest since it’s not our sound but congratulations to Linoleum on his 1st official EP release anyway and the 2 very nice originals that we certainly suggest to check out for some fresh electronic sound!

Moving on with a preview of an upcoming EP and if The S in my opening post were coming back on the blog after a long absence, here’s a name who’s always been a regular and even more lately as he continues his hyper-productive year. Of course i’m talking about aUtOdiDakT who promised us earlier this year to release a new single every month and damn does this guy know how to keep a promise or what!? His new upcoming single, out 11th of June on Mähtrasher Records is titled “Slasher Army” and looking at the remixer line up as well as listening to the teaser i think it’s a very suitable title. A killer original plus 4 remixes by Kroyclub, Hantise, Overnoize and Raupe and if you’re after some thrashing bass, trashed up Haezer-esque electro you’re going to love this one! Press play!
