Belgium based artist Neoslave debutted on French Synthwave label Lazerdiscs Records a couple of weeks ago with an EP titled “Blood Arcade” and well, being unaware of the artist’s work so far it definitely seemed to sit well with us and leave a very good impression, to say the least. Of course for anyone following the label this EP shouldn’t come as a surprise since it ticks all the imaginary boxes and fits quite well with the label’s fast growing Synthwave catalogue and expanding roster. The five original tracks on the EP move between heavier and louder Synthwave and Darkwave to more classic Retro sounding Breaks with the artist making some clever and well thought of production decisions as well by utlising the use of guitars and vocals (by Evi Broers) very well and most importantly, without overloading and oversaturating the songs with too many of either. A nicely balanced and enjoyable EP overall, with Neoslave setting up the bar quite high already for what’s to follow by him, especially when he doesn’t try to sound like some of his obvious influences and favorite artists. We’ll be definitely keeping our eyes and ears on the artist’s follow up releases and we suggest you do too…
