Just a few days ago the So French Records “Winter Time” Vol.02 Compilation was released by French label, including 14 original tracks altogether. A mix of Nu Disco, Electro Rock and well, French Touch with some artists we’ve known and liked for a while now, as well as some new ones. Listening to the whole release a few times and trying to make up our minds about it, we can definitely say that there are some very good tracks on it, which we have picked to feature here today. One of the things we didn’t like as much is the abundance of Nu Disco and “funky”tracks, which seemed to take over the overall release more than we would have personally liked as it seems to have left less room for more power and energy which we thought is missing a bit from the particular compilation. The good thing though is that the few tracks that are moving to a “harder” direction out of “Winter Time” Vol.02 really stood out as they made a significance difference to the release’s overall feel and flow. Starting the day with a remix by an artist who has been featured here a few times before with his remakes of metal and rock songs and his never ending love for guitar injected Electro. So welcome back on Metalectro Soul Machine, who this time took Pink Floyd’s “One Of These Days” and transformed it into an Electro-Psychdelic Rock gem. Maybe not as hard or bassy as we usually like our electronic music but nevertheless a beautiful remake/remix with great feel and flow. An undisputed “remix of the day” and a great way for Soul Machine to make his comeback on Metalectro. Check this one out by all means since it’s a great take on the original and if you like it but aren’t familiar with Soul Machine make sure to go and check out his Soundcloud for more like this. Believe us when we say there’s plenty of good music to be found there, you won’t be disappointed!

Going on with my personal highlight of recent releases and the latest EP by Dizkodeath named “Wizard“, out since Monday on Jet Set Trash! Compared to the 1st tracks by the young German i blogged here not that long ago it´s really damn remarkable through what a huge development he went sound-wise, without losing touch to the roots anytime but sticking to the good stuff and delivering each track (almost) better than the last, also this release. An outstanding EP imo and the original as well as the remixes by Q.G. and Soul Machine turned out extremely mind-blowing, so get into the groove right now and be taken away by its lovely melodies and amazing flow – crank it up, hit play and check all tracks out!!!

Capping the day off with an remix that actually belongs to the “old but gold” section, but as i just stumbled upon this one i instantly knew this one has to be posted by all means and of course as the “remix of the day” even though Soul Machine who did this remix stayed pretty close to the original to be honest! Still “i fell in love with this sweet sensation and gave my heart to this simple chord” -just to use some lyrics of this tune- describes more than suitable the immense vibe and power coming from this track originally by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and named “Whatever Happened to my Rock’n´Roll”! Like the title already suggests it´s rock´n´roll with a powerful garage vibe in it and if this one doesn´t touch you at all i´m afraid you sold your soul to the wrong gods. What are you waiting for, crank it up, grab this killer remix and stay rock´n´roll!!!

Second post of the day and despite having to change my post right at the last minute due to the tracks of the new release i had planned to post magically disappearing (shame on those responsible), i have a replacement ready that maybe isn’t from a “big” name but certainly is of equal quality as Rubber Spanner‘s 3rd EP “Drop Like Flies” dropped a couple of days ago on Jet Set Trash and made some serious noise as well! Featuring 5 originals that range from Punkstep to melodic Electro House and Metalectro to Techno, the London (UK) based producer really stepped up with this new EP and took things to the next level. The self titled “Drop Like Flies” might as well be the Electro-Step cousin of bands like Agnostic Front or Dropkick Murphys and is a track full of style and attitude but so are the rest of the tracks on the EP. Clever lyrics, guitars, melodies that will stick with you and groove define the 5 originals and as if that’s not enough to make a killer EP, Heavygrinder, Laforcah, Gor FLsh and Soul Machine remixed the tracks and delivered some of their best work up to date too. Nothing else to add, if you aren’t yet convinced there is nothing i can say to change that, so here’s the preview and you better check it out!
