Review: Resistance “More Power” EP

Starting the day with some hard hitting Electro sounds and UK based Resistance‘s latest EP, which was released on Play Me Records about a month ago. The EP is titled “More Power” and moves in the Electro House/Dubstep directions. Three original tracks, two Electro and one Dubstep (plus a free bonus track inlcuded in the Soundcloud set), all packing quite a bit of energy and power which is what someone would normally expect by a release titled “More Power” anyway so no disappointent there. Nice and tight production by Resistance and overall one more nice release by Play Me which all those of you fans of the label’s sound and style should undoubtedly enjoy so hit play and check it out! Ravolution – Smash

Here’s a new original track by a name that has been featured here a few times already with some free and official releases, the Belgian duo Ravolution, who recently had their track “Smash” released on Play Me Records‘ “New Blood” Vol.05 compilation, including altogether 16 tracks that vary from Trap to Dubstep and Drum N Bass to Electro, by mostly smaller and less known artists. For those familiar with the duo’s sound “Smash” follows in the footsteps of Ravolution‘s previous work, staying loyal to their Electro roots and is the track that stood out in the sea of ‘new blood’, both stylistically and soundwise. Not there aren’t some more nice tracks to be found on “New Blood” Vol.05 but given the oversaturated by often too similar sounding tracks Electronic music scene nowadays, Ravolution‘s contribution was definitely a refreshing and memorable moment while listening to “New Blood” Vol.05. A nice track which leaves us wondering what’s to follow by the duo, so check it out!

New Release: Nostalgia “Perfect Lie” EP

The third time is the charm they say, so here´s another new release to check out for you, this time featuring two originals tracks though! Actually this one´s even a “fresh blood” post since it´s the first time for Nostalgia, a one man project from St.Paul/USA, to be featured here. “Perfect Lie” is this EP´s name, including the same-titled opener feat. Frank Morgan and the track “New Challenger”, out since Monday on Play Me Records. Imo not only the perfect lie, but also the perfect tie, since Nostalgia made it hereby to build a very well done bridge between a rather commercial dubstep approach and the typical raw and in-your-face dubstep the American stands for. A nice EP overall, check both tracks out!!!

Keeping things fresh for the time being and sticking to the fredh blood and another new release by a name that has never been featured here before, so boy & girls, electroheadz & bassfreakz here comes Tha New Team and this is a team with a lot of bass as well. Their new EP titled “Elm Street” was out on October 14th on Play Me Records featuring 2 original vocal driven tracks that definitely go heavy on the bass. If you like the idea of Hip Hop and heavy bass music merged beautifully into two hard hitting originals then this sound like a release you shouldn’t miss as that is exactly what the duo from France has done on the “Elm Street” EP. So, here comes Tha New Team, prepare for a lot of bass and keep an eye/ear on these guys as something tells me we will be listening to a lot more from them.

Drop Goblin – Feelin’ Like A Rock Star

Time to pick up the pace after the nice but a bit slow for my taste opening post and time to let some of that sweet guitar fuelled Metalectric sound flow through our veins with this older but still great track imo. Drop Goblin‘s “Feelin’ Like A Rockstar” is taken from the same-titled EP released about a year ago on Play Me Records. The EP also featured 2 more originals (“Fire In The Hole” and “Booty Pop”) plus a remix on “Booty Pop” by Dirt Monkey but it’ this rocking original mix that really stands out and takes the EP to new heights imo. A really great track, combining the hard rock aesthetic and sound with our favorite bass music and as Drop Goblin proved with his latest EP “The Gate” as well, he certainly is one of the masters of the style and a quickly growing to be favorite Metalectro artist.
